Today was my first day as an Official College Student. I had four of my classes and am most pleased with them and myself; I managed to schedule no class before 10 AM.
First class was Intro to Library Resources at 1 PM. Anyway, LIB 197 was OK; mildly uninteresting, but I'm hoping that will change. It's only a 45-minute class. The main reason I took it was that I was planning to get a job at the library, but that didn't pan out.
My next class was Astronomy. The teacher, Mr. Osborn, is a good guy. He and Journalism 101 teacher are, I think, the same person. They look the same, they've got the same wedding band, and more importantly, they demonstrated the same style of teaching today. This will probably change, as Astronomy is a lecture class and Journalism is a discussion class. There are the same number of people in each. I sat up front in Journalism and answered a lot of questions, since nobody else was raising their hands (I turned around and checked).
Ah, and there's Intro to Creative Writing. That's going to be fun. My teacher, Mr. Yakich, is very new and is running it like a workshop. I will post whatever I write. There are only 22 people in the class.
I am, however, very pissed off at the cafeteria. My last class ends at 6:15, and the dining halls stop serving dinner at 6. I must bring this issue up at the next floor meeting, which I see is 8:30 tonight. I will hold a protest if needs be.
ETA: At the request of
colbyucb, I am posting my schedule. This is for my benefit as well, since I'll probably forget and have to check my journal.
Monday:
LIB 197, Intro to Library Resources at 1 PM until 1:50 PM in room 207 of said library. Instructor: Mr. Lorenzen.
AST 111, Astronomy at 2 PM until 2:50 PM in Pearce 128 with Mr. "Ozzy" Osborne.
ENG 294, Intro to Creative Writing in Anspach 153 at 3:30 PM until 4:45 PM with Mr. Yakich (rhymes with "jock itch").
JRN 101, MassCommContempSo (as it is called) in Anspach 168 from 5 PM to 6:15 PM with Mr. Boudreau.
Tuesday:
CPS 100, Computers and Society (I wanted to take Basic Programming, but nooooo, I had no prerequisites) at 10 AM until 10:50 AM in Pearce 128 with Mr. Finnegan.
CPS 100, The Sequel, at 11 AM until 11:50 AM in Pearce 424 with a T.A. named Song.
Wednesday:
Same as Monday.
Thursday:
Same as Tuesday except wihout The Sequel.
Friday:
Only Astronomy, at the same time and same place.
I am also planning to join the GSA (9 PM in the U.C. Food Court but no actual day of the week so far) and the Fiction Collective (meets Sunday night but other than that I know nothing). There's also an anime club which isn't on the webpage, but which has many many posters up in Anspach. I might go to that.
