Am printing out "Shadow of the Thin Man" at Grawn Computer Lab, because it's free here. At the library it costs 10 cents a page, which is great if you have, you know, money. And I've got to save mine...
Damn, this sucker is long. Longer than I thought. On the Internet, it's easy to forget how long a page really is. Of course, it's also on FFN, so there's extra formatting and banners and things.
Yeah, this is being printed on both sides. Otherwise I am not going to be able to staple it or paperclip it or anything. I'll just hand Crispin this huge sheaf of disconnected papers.
Also printing out "Terrier" and the "You made me hate myself" drawing. That seems to be going more smoothly.
Whoa. "Shadow" is unstapleable anyway. Sixty-one pages. This is, like, a senior thesis of fanfiction. Ok, strategy: Staple every chapter separately and put it in a folder. This will also allow me to print it out on just one side and staple it with three staples, like a book, instead of just on the corner. Much better. Now I need to find an actual folder for this.
:dithers around wildly:
Yeah, so. Tomorrow! Ann Arbor! What Is It? [livejournal.com profile] drworm! Am so looking forward to this! Bought a camera! Yay! Hope she doesn't end up in Mexico! 'Cause apparently that's a possibility. :panics:
Also problem: You have no idea who I will be. Should I hold up a sign that says "Kleenexwoman" like they do in airports? Will you be online tonight?

:calms down:

In other news, I have new books.
1 copy of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson--a present from [livejournal.com profile] nyghtshayde, who also sent me some jasmine body oil (mmm, flower smell), yummy tea, and a gorgeous Virgo card. :loves loves loves:
1 copy of "Naked Lunch" by William S. Burroughs and 1 copy of "The New York Trilogy" by Paul Auster, both of which are from the school bookstore. I've been checking these out of libraries compulsively for a couple years now, and it's a relief to know that they will no longer be responsible for wads of late fees.
1 copy of "Communion" by Whitley Strieber, on a semi-recommendation from [livejournal.com profile] ghostgecko. This from the used book sale in the library, along with a couple other books whose names I don't remember. Also an old copy of "OMNI" and some "Scientific American" back issues. I shall not want for reading material.
1 copy of an Abnormal Psychology textbook. I got lost in one of the academic halls, and they were standing against the wall with a sign that said "Discontinued text--FREE!" and I simply couldn't pass it up.
Am still making elaborate plans to liberate that Allen Ginsberg anthology from the Kaya. No, that wouldn't be fair to anyone else who reads it. I'll just wait until I get home and then find a copy at Border's. I am going to spend soooo much money at Border's when I get back.

Also, one more [livejournal.com profile] sages_of_chaos thing and then I'll shut up about it for a while.
I would prefer not to make a sockpuppet. But I really, really, couldn't resist.

Glad...

...you like the stuff, hon. Enjoy the book...it was a great find. And now you won't have to try and wrestle a copy out of anyone else's hands at the library. My friend [livejournal.com profile] sealyonne works at a Barnes and Noble where he's at and said that they're having trouble keeping Thompson's stuff on the shelves.

Also enjoy your time in Ann Arbor. Take lots of pics...including ones of you. :D

Man, I woke up at 3am last night and remember I should have done that. I am sooooo stupid. Please write that I'm sorry on that copy, okay?

And . . . SIXTY ONE PAGES?!?!?!

That's pretty good for a character who spent only about 5 minutes onscreen and a writer who only had one idea in his head.

61 pages front and back. Somewhere around 125 actual pages. Novel-length. Even with FFN banners and page breaks, that's damn impressive.

"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Hmmm . . . I guess I don't have to ask you about your experiences with hallucinagens (sp?). Only a devoted fan of psychodelic substances can follow that book with any coherance. Honestly, it didn't grab me but it's definately an original.

In fact, I have never tried hallucinogens, although I plan to some day, just to see what they are like. I've also never read the book before, so we shall see...

Not true...

...I've never done a single drug short of alcohol and coffee and I understood the book with no problems. Guess it depends on where the interests lie.
