Went to my friend Rachel's bat mitzvah. She's the facilitator at the Gender Non-Conformists group I go to, and it's been 13 years since she came out as a woman. She missed having a bar mitzvah when she was a boy because she had too much else to deal with, so she had one today. Found a rabbi who'd hold the ceremony, and everything! She didn't read from the Torah, but she did make a nice speech and read a poem, and the rabbi blessed her and she held a Torah that had been through the Holocaust. It was a very touching ceremony.

Then I went and worked until midnight. Everyone was nervous because there's a new company taking control. Tomorrow. Literally tomorrow. And nobody knows what is going on, because the old company won't tell the employees anything because they're going over to the new company, and the new company won't tell the employees anything because they are from the old company.

Also, the weather has been genuinely cold. Not just nippy, freeze-your-ass cold. And my feet are molting.

Clearly it is a time of transition.

That sounds like a cool bat mitzvah! Yay for open-minded rabbis.

The job thing sucks though. :( Good luck tomorrow, hope things work out for the best!

It was excellent! The temple was Shir Tikvah, they are very Reform and extremely welcoming. The rabbi, Rabbi Arnie, was extremely sweet :)
