Having not made it to the movie we were going to see tonight (Get Smart), we are watching Batman Beyond. Katie Holmes is currently lecturing Christian Bale on how horrible it is that the bad people get rich and the good people stay scared, as though this wasn't how society generally tends to work already. Seth is still playing his Pokemans. I want to find some sort of American Psycho/Batman Beyond crossover somewhere on the Internet. It should exist. I'd write it myself, but I don't really care enough.
Tonight's Venture Brothers and its theme of merchandised experience was particularly amusing in light of the existence of the Amazing Shirt of the Week Club. Or maybe I'm slightly put out because I missed out on getting the Guild of Calamitous Intent T-shirt. It would have gone great with my skull hoodie.
Good god, I feel shallow and apathetic, and I'm sure I sound that way.

Date: 2008-06-30 05:27 am (UTC)You have Katie Holmes' character giving Bruce Wayne a bunch of self-righteous bullshit, driving him to the ghetto, slapping her friend when he bares his emotions to her, and telling him that his dead father (you know, the one that was gunned down before his very eyes and considers his fault) would be ashamed of him.
Let's ignore the fact that she can't really have any decent perspective on where Bruce is psychologically, what with his parents being shot to death in front of him. She didn't have to live through that. Instead of being a friend and seeing just how fucked in the head Bruce is, she takes the moral high road and ends up sounding like a complete douche.
Add to this the fact that his friend and confidant is attempting to get his parents' murderer released so she can put a mob boss on trial. She could have used any other means at her disposal to get to Falcone, but instead she uses the one thing that would totally screw with Bruce's head. I'd be super-pissed if my oldest friend attempted to use my psychological baggage to further her career.
Fuck Rachel Dawes.

Date: 2008-06-30 05:47 am (UTC)And though I did *like* the Guild shirt, I wasn't willing to pay out the money for it. And the purple shirt and the current white ringer shirt prove to me that I made the right choice. The shirt would have to be pretty farking spectacular for me to pay for it seeing as I need my money for other things and I already have so many shirts I have difficulty fitting them all into my shirt drawers...

Date: 2008-06-30 12:19 pm (UTC)It's summer. It's a billion degrees out (or it was yesterday). You're twenty-one, female, American, and in Michigan. You're allowed -- nay, required -- to be shallow and apathetic.
Ooh, look, a butterfly!
