kleenexwoman: A caricature of me looking future-y. (Default)

Right. So. Personal stuff in friendslocked entry, am still feeling a bit odd from everything that transpired.

For the rest of you, I need some minor help:

I would appreciate it if anyone who knows much about poetry would consent to beta-read a poem I'm writing for someone. I'm confident in my fiction skills but not so much in my poetry, and I'm bad with very basic things like line breaks and knowing when to stop.

I also need anyone who feels like it to submit a few questions for a quiz I'm making. I have two finals on Monday and one on Friday and I need something to do to fill in the rest of the week when certain other things aren't going on. The topic of the quiz is "Which Seriously Anti-Social Band From My Playlist Are You?"

And it's 7 in the morning and I've been up for far too long so I shall brush the taste of V8 out of my mouth and see how much sleep I get. THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT.

Which bands are on your list? And, could you please explain your user name to me? Sorry for being somewhat off-topic here. And good luck with dealing with your ex girlfriend. Scary shit, man.

Bands on the list so far:

Black Sabbath
Dead Kennedys
Guns 'N' Roses
Marilyn Manson
Nick Drake
Nine Inch Nails
Nirvana
Oingo Boingo
Pink Floyd
Ramones
Slayer
Steely Dan
Was Not Was

I'm trying to pare it down a little. Some of them aren't so much antisocial as they are just weird, but it's a litle hard to tell the difference.

My username actually comes from a Larry Niven story about Superman's sex life: "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." (Eh, I thought it was clever--then again it was four years ago and I was obsessed with comics.) I get more booger jokes, I swear...

Thanks, by the way.

That was actually the first thing I asked Dr Worm about you, "Ask her if she got her name from that Niven story."

Hey...

...I'll beta your poetry. I love poetry...

Ok! Thanks! I'll send it to you (I think I still have your E-mail).

Woot! I have it...I've just been weeding my way through e-mail to get to it. I'm picky like that. I do all my e-mail in order unless something says emergency.

[identity profile] ruon.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know much about poetry but I'll give it a look if you let me. Sometimes an amateurs eye is better than a professional. Right? Right?

[identity profile] kleenexwoman.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. Can I send it to you over E-mail?

[identity profile] ruon.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
sure. email it to sharabsh@uiuc.edu

dump your girlfriend. we should date. i love your mind.

[identity profile] ruon.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
i feel sort of crazy right now :(

[identity profile] kleenexwoman.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
The address doesn't seem to work; I got a "mail returned" message...

The idea of dating you makes me smile. Afraid it wouldn't work out, though... :dramatic sad sniff:

[identity profile] ruon.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
i got your message. it came through.

Answer to your quiz question: I'm from the Kinks. I'm an ape man, I'm an ape ape man, oh I'm an ape man.

[identity profile] ruon.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
I sent you an email with some suggestions on structuring your poem.

Quiz question #2: What did the Beatles mean by "all you need is love"? What else is there in life besides love? Is love greater than money or is money greater than love?

[identity profile] kleenexwoman.livejournal.com 2004-12-14 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I got the E-mail. Thank you. I'm not sure I'm going to use the syllable scheme in this poem, although you have given me a very good idea (when combined with your quiz question, actually).
