Cut for Lemony Snicket movie semispoilers )

On the fanfic front, there's not much going on besides my so-far untitled AU doppelganger epic, which is forming verrrrrry slowly. I'm never going to get it done, am I? I do, however, have a slashy semi-RPS thing which is going to get written down as soon as I find a good place to start.
I would like to write something like The Divine Rehabilitation of Jason Mewes" for "Back to the Future." I'm still really proud of that story. I think it's the best fanfic I've ever written. I managed to put everything I thought about the movies, the actors, the themes, and everything I connected with it into that story. As a result, I can never write Askewniverse fanfic again. I have absolutely nothing left to say about it.
Is this gonna happen with my shiny new fandom? Maybe. It's not as easy to push past all the fluffy little layers with this one. Kevin Smith was very conscious of what he was doing when he made "Clerks" and "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma," let his themes and characters expose their raw, beating hearts and glistening, sparking brains to the audience. Easy to write about, easy to dig up--hopelessness, inspiration, love, partnerships. Zemeckis and Gale very carefully buried everything they meant to say. Or maybe they just didn't know exactly what they were making.

I was going to post a long rant about characters and their real-life people, why watching "Back to the Future" is even weirder when you consider the post-movie careers of each actor, the way fans delude themselves into identifying with celebrities and characters and why that's all right, and a lot of stuff about how I feel about Art...but it's getting really cold in here and I am starting to shiver.
