Ditto, Savannah Monitors are some of the best lizards to keep as pets, as long as you don't mind them getting very large. Very even-tempered and smart. And they have purple tongues! I once accidentally grabbed the forked tip of my lizard's tongue and yanked on it (my contacts were out and I thought it was the end of a string she was swallowing) and she didn't bite me or anything. She was the only pet I had my friend Charlotte was not afraid of - in fact, as soon as she came over Charlotte would grab the lizard, Venus, and carry her around like a fat, scaly teddy bear.
Damn, now I want a lizard again.
