Mischief Managed!

So I missed the Salman Rushdie Q&A on Monday. But this is going on at my school. It is "a scholarly and performative conference on Harry Potter" and it costs $35 for student attendance.

[livejournal.com profile] drworm and I are considering going. But it's $35. ($50 for non-students.)

(Prof. Ari "The Learned" Berk is going to be in attendance and may have been asked to speak, despite the fact that he despises the series and everything it stands for. No, I'm not entirely sure why.)

Should we go? Would you go? Does a "Model Wizarding World Caucus," addressing such issues as "Should Azkaban prison should be shut down?" and "What should be the rights of house elves?" and "How do muggle fishing practices affect merpeople?" seem worth it? How about performances by "The Whomping Willows" and "The Fred and George Band"? Or a visit to "Professor Umbridge Tattoos and Body Piercing"? (Oh my god, how fucking awesome is that? Come on.)

If you've got the dough, sure, why not. Nothing wrong with a little mid-autumnal dorkage. (I have yet to dip into a single one of those books, but I will someday. My geekitude has its own radar.)

If I had a lot of extra money I'd do it on a moment (I have spent more on having Chinese food delivered when I've been flush, trufax) but I'm not sure that I do.

Hmm. Can you sneak in? Sell blood? Ova? A kidney?
