That honey concoction sounds positively disgusting, though I can see how it would work. I've done a variation on the hot sauce thing for a while which involves plain black pepper.

"[D]istinguished, despite her youth" admittedly still sounds pretty Mary Sueish to me, but not as much so as, say, "pale, delicate skin and almond-shaped cerulean eyes."
